Ashtray
sthall we never live each other's live for we'll walk
the same road from the day we meet
'till our paths finally split
shall we never live our very same lives all over again
from the day we're born until we die
are we bound to just wait
sitting in one place like cigarettes in an ashtray
burning our lives away until we burn our butts
one day i took my bag and hit the road
to change my life i had to decide
then i met this one woman, she changed my life
then i didn't feel no more like time was burning away
she told me of places far away
and about the men she met
and why she did leave all the men she left
and told me please swear to her i wouldn't make the same mistakes
we lived for some time
what some people call a dream
we had a dog, tv, computer, smokes, nights out, records and drinks
i'll never forget the way her eyes lit up times i played my guitar
it felt like i was given life
for the first time in years
we shared the same laughter and we shared the same tears
but nothing last forever as the old folks use to say
when the storm came roaring
like a swarm of raging lions
held tight as we could but the wind brought our boat down
i had to leave for her or stay by myself
i'd be a much happier a man
i hope y'all get my point
i'd rather live my life like i was some kinda joint
if i gotta burn out at least i'll make someone get very very high
