The Salvaging of Love
And every house has antennas
on every antenna sits a bird
and every bird's eye sparkles
as they look from high above
at you, who try to salvage love
that's spilled all over the street
just like oil and blood after a car crash,
and they all fly off as you insist
that if one can love for both
it can't be over
But as you let your hopes fall aside
and you flee into the woods
i don't follow you in for I know
you're out of harm's way
because now you're not but a ghost,
a shadow of autumn leaves
and there's no flesh to be harmed
or no blood to be drained
and the wolves howl for you
I hear they howling your name
The wolves then come out for me
they want to know what i have done
growling and snarling and cornering me
(I finally put myself together)
now they're gonna tear me apart
but that's when you come back
and tell them "now it's alright"
for a long time night has been crumbling from the sky
I just kicked the columns out
And the day finally hit the ground
